This role is expected to take an active part in analysis of requirements and programming on development projects and take an active part in application support activities.
The requirements of this position include technical analysis and programming, integration support, technical customer support and operations support.
Scope of Position.
Development, testing and maintenance of applications software, including appropriate business and technical analysis.
Provide technical support to the business team and, to a lesser degree, to customers.
Functional and Technical design and documentation of proposed solutions.
Functional Tasks and Responsibilities
- Analysis and Development
- Design, code, unit test, system test, deploy and install applications programs
- Create and maintain technical designs and documentation of proposed solutions
- Work closely with the business team to evaluate possible solutions, and determine/refine the business and technical requirements
- Ensure that solutions are developed within agreed time frames and to the agreed scope such that they meet user requirements
- Provide quality, usable computer applications that are free of defects, fit for purpose, and designed for ongoing ease of support and maintenance
- Develop solutions that meet the security and privacy standards of DBA IT
- Adhere to published processes and procedures and recommend enhancements to process and procedures where appropriate
- Utilise well developed troubleshooting skills and techniques to resolve system issues in a logical and timely manner
- Effectively communicate the status of development activities to the appropriate business and IT stakeholders and management
- Operations Support
- Strong customer and service orientation
- Help Ensure DBA IT systems meet the availability and performance targets as set by the business
- Resolve support requests to ensure problem tickets and technical support queries from the DBA businesses and external customers are fulfilled promptly and accurately
- Work across teams and functions to ensure the ongoing health and performance of the DBA IT systems are maintained and enhanced
- Always respond rapidly to urgent software problems and resolve them quickly and effectively
- Effectively communicate across all levels of the organisation

Skills, Knowledge and/or experience
- At least 2 years commercially proven experience in developing applications, including at least 1 years working with C#, SQL Server and Microsoft .NET Framework (ASP.NET, Windows Forms)
- Strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to work under pressure
- Ability to understand the essential needs of users and meet these in well designed programs
- Ability to communicate problems of a technical nature to all levels of management and users
- A high level of self motivation
- Flexibility in meeting dynamic requirements
- Skills in conducting structured analysis and problem analysis
- Experience with MS Office tools MS Excel, Word, Visio, etc
- Experience in component and assembly testing
- Knowledge of the SDLC

- At least 3 years commercially proven experience in developing applications, including at least 2 years working with Microsoft .NET and/or the Java language, architecture and design standards
- Developed knowledge of Object Orientated (OO) analysis and design, OO methodologies and techniques
- Developed skills and knowledge of one of the major relational database packages such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL or DB2
- Good skills in personal work organisation and time management
- An ability to work to agreed deadlines
- Ability to understand the essential needs of users and meet these in well designed programs
