DBA Position Key Responsibilities:-

1. Database Administration & Maintenance:-
Install, configure, and manage relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL,
Oracle, etc.).
Ensure optimal database performance through indexing, query optimization, and
tuning.
Manage database patching, upgrades, and migrations while minimizing downtime.
2. Backup, Recovery & High Availability:-
Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Design and manage high availability solutions such as replication, clustering, and
Always On.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot database issues to ensure business continuity.
3. Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:-
Analyze and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks using monitoring tools.
Collaborate with development teams to enhance application-database interactions.
4. Security, Compliance & Data Integrity:-
Implement strict security policies, access controls, and encryption techniques.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and data integrity checks.

5. Collaboration & Support:-
Work closely with developers, DevOps, and IT teams to optimize database designs.
Support teams with query optimization, schema design, and data modelling best
practices.
Provide documentation, training, and guidelines on database operations.
6. Technical Skills:-
Expertise in SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Proficiency in T-SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing.
Strong understanding of backup strategies, recovery solutions, and high availability.
Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
Hands-on experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Bash etc.).
Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) is an added advantage.
7. Soft Skills:-  Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.
