Major Accountabilities:
- Manage Procurement: Develop and Oversee the procurement of organic agricultural commodities directly from farmers.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure procurement processes adhere to company SOPs and quality standards set forth from APEDA.
- Logistics Coordination: Oversee the weighment, quality testing, and logistics of procured commodities.
- Transportation: Coordinate the timely transportation of commodities from procurement centres to central warehouses or processing centres as and when directed for respective commodities
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with organic certification standards and regulations.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with organic farmers, FPOs, and suppliers.
- Supplier Onboarding: Identify and onboard new suppliers to expand the procurement network as per company set standard
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Additional degrees or certifications in procurement or organic farming are a plus.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in agricultural procurement in the organic sector.
- Familiarity with Agri-commodity procurement, organic certification processes, and working with rural communities and farmers is preferred.
Soft Skills and Attributes:
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with farmers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills to secure the best terms and prices from suppliers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think on their feet and resolve issues that arise during procurement and logistics.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in quality assurance and compliance.
- Team Player: Collaborative attitude to work effectively with various departments and external partners.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Respectful and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly in rural settings.
- Integrity: Demonstrates ethical behavior and ensures fair practices in all procurement activities.
