A Costing and Design Engineer in Industrial Automation combines design and cost analysis to optimize automation systems, and responsible for both designing and costing electrical control panels for industrial automation systems, ensuring cost-effectiveness and meeting project requirements. Ensuring they meet
project requirements while minimizing expenses. This role involves creating designs, analyzing costs, and making design choices that balance functionality, cost, and time.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Develop and refine designs for automated systems, incorporating features like PLCs, VFDs, and other automation technologies.
Cost Analysis and Optimization:
Estimate project costs, identify cost-saving measures, and ensure designs are economically viable.
Prototype and Testing:
Build and test prototypes to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
Technical Documentation:
Create detailed technical drawings, reports, and documentation for the designed systems.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work with project managers, customers, and other engineering teams to ensure designs meet requirements and objectives.
Compliance:
Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Skills and Qualifications:
Engineering Degree: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
Design Software Proficiency:
Must have knowledge of panel costing and building/wiring and drawing GA (DRIVE PANEL, MCC PANEL, PCC PANEL, PLC CONTROL PANEL, POWER PANEL.
Cost Estimation and Analysis:
Strong understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and cost-benefit analysis.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with automation components (PLCs, VFDs, sensors, etc.) and industrial automation systems.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
Ability to identify problems, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
Communication and Collaboration:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
