Job Description for DBA position<\/p>\n
The Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n Strategy & Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and product managers. Operational Management<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create models for new database development and\/or changes to existing ones. Position Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n Formal Education & Certification<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science or Computer Engineering and\/or 5 years equivalent of work experience.

\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Design and implement redundant systems for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.<\/p>\n
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitor, optimize and allocate data storage for database systems.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.

\nKnowledge & Experience
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Working experience in public and private cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, including Microsoft SQL Server 2012\/2014 Enterprise, Azure SQL, DocumentDB and NoSQL Databases.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Knowledge of High Availability architecture such as Always-On Availability Groups.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Project management experience.
